Function: Tells about a past activity at unspecific time.

A.Verbal Sentence (sentence that uses verb)

I.POSITIVE SENTENCE
Subject + Have + Verb III + etc.

Notes:
1. For Subject: THEY/WE/YOU + Have + Verb III + etc.
Examples:
1.I Have had breakfast
2.We have done the homework
3.They have washed the clothes
4.I have closed the door

2. For Subject: HE/SHE/IT + Has + Verb III + etc.
Examples:
1.He has gone to office
2.She has typed the letter
3.My father has known you

Remember!
Basically there are 2 kinds of past participles (Verb III) called regular and irregular verbs.
1.Regular verb can be identified by the suffix (akhiran) of D or ED
Examples:
1.Close-Closed
2.Use-Used
3.Talk-Talked
4.Watch-Watched

2.Irregular verb is verb that’s automatically changed, it can be found in the dictionary, and they must be remembered.
Examples:
1.Come-Come
2.See-Seen
3.Go-Gone
4.Meet-Met

Exercise:
Translate the following sentences into English!
a.Pesawat terbangnya telah berangkat

b.Mereka telah membeli sebuah rumah baru

c.Saya sudah menonton film itu

d.Bapak telah mengijinkan saya untuk pergi

e.Kami sudah mencobanya sekali

f.Saya telah tinggal di Bali selama 5 tahun

II.NEGATIVE SENTENCE

Formulation: Subject + HAVE/HAS + NOT + VERB III + etc.
Notes:

1. For Subject:THEY/WE/I/YOU + Haven’t + Verb III + etc.
Examples:
1.I Haven’t had breakfast
2.We haven’t done the homework
3.They haven’t washed the clothes
4.I haven’t closed the door

2.For Subject: HE/SHE/IT + Hasn’t + Verb 3 + etc.
Examples:
1.He hasn’t gone to office
2.She hasn’t typed the letter
3.My father hasn’t known you

III.INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE ( YES & NO Question )
Formulation: HAVE/HAS + SUBJECT + VERB III etc.

Examples:
1.Have you seen Titanic movie?
2.Have your children had breakfast?
3.Have you known her new address?
4.Has your mother cooked?
5.Has your brother graduated from university?

Exercise:

Translate the following sentences into well-constructed English!
1.Apakah anda sudah mengerjakan PR?

2.Apakah anda sudah mendengarkan berita ini?

3.Apakah teman anda sudah mengerti?

4.Apakah Indra telah menjelaskan pelajaran ini sebelumnya?

IV. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE ( INFORMATIVE Question )
Add question Words before the auxiliary verb (have/has): Why, When, What, Which, Where, Who & How

Examples:
1.How long have you lived in Bali?
2.How long has your father worked at Bali Hilton hotel?
3.Where has she gone?
4.What have you known about this subject?
5.What interesting places have you visited?

QUESTION WORDS + HAVE/HAS + SUBJECT + BEEN + ADJECTIVE/NOUN/ADVERBS?
Question Words: Why, When, What, Which, Where, Who & How

Examples:
1.How long have you been in Bali?
2.How long has your father been sick?
3.Where have you been?
4.How many minutes have we been late?
5.Which one has been empty?
